Megan Prendergast is a wife and proud mother of four children and two dogs.
Megan obtained a Bachelor of Science in Clinical Psychology and a Master of Arts in School Counseling and holds a Professional Educator License with a School Counseling endorsement. While completing her degrees, she also worked as a Research Assistant in the Psychology Department.
Working with children has always been a passion of Megan’s. She has worked in schools in a variety of capacities, including but not limited to: a Title I Counselor, Long Term Substitute School Psychologist, Music Experience Instructor, one-on-one Instructional Assistant in Special Education and General Education classrooms, Student Mentor, and Substitute Teacher.
In 2019, Megan released her first book, Included; a heartwarming story that aims to teach kindness, inclusion, empathy, and compassion. It expresses that although we may appear to be different, what is on the inside is what matters most. If we take the time to get to know others, we will discover we are more alike than different! Characters in Included have a variety of abilities, Autism, Down Syndrome, wear glasses, have hearing aids, and more, opening the door to many discussion opportunities.
Included has been selected for “One Book, One School” programs, is in classrooms and libraries across the country, and Megan has personally shared Included with thousands of students in 16 states thus far. She hopes to be able to share this important message with students in all 50 states.
In late November 2021, Megan released an accompanying Coloring & Activity Book loaded with approximately 50 pages of inclusive fun and learning opportunities! She hopes to continue to write books that inspire children to be their best selves and to continue her mission to spread kindness and inclusion everywhere!
